For the past two and a half years, our Women’s Initiative team has been building relationships and sharing the hope of Jesus with women and children in this informal settlement. What began with simple visits, Bible stories for the kids, and small craft activities has grown into a meaningful and consistent ministry.
In 2024, we hosted our first Women’s Initiative training. Although progress was slower than expected, God was quietly preparing hearts. Over time, He raised up Mary, a woman of deep faith who has become a key part of the ministry.
In February 2025, a weekly women’s Bible study began in Mary’s home. The group has walked through both joyful moments and deep hardship together, including a serious accident involving Mary’s son and the heartbreaking loss of her baby daughter later that year. Through it all, Mary has remained steadfast in her faith.
Today, eight committed women gather every week for Bible study, with around 25 children joining as well. Mary is already discipling another woman, and at our next training we hope to equip both of them to use Jesus Film resources in their own ministry.
We are grateful to witness how God is strengthening and multiplying this small community of women who love Him and are growing in confidence to share their faith with others.
